I think that pinterest is a great idea and I can see why people like being linked to others based on interests. But I don't see what else it can do for someone and I think that it would get boring really quickly. I think that you can share your interests on other social media sites and that takes away from what pinterest offers. Although I am usually behind in joining new social media sites so I will probably get suckered into joining this one as well. I will probably jump on the bandwagon soon because pinterest is growing at a rapid rate and gaining more and more followers.
traditional advertising
traditional advertising is declining because of social media. Now everyone picks from so many tv channels and even more internet sites and now people's attention is more spread out. Advertising has become less effective because it costs more to get the same return. There is also a fixed ratio of expense to revenue and that means that what you put into it is what you are going to get out of it. Companies now have to reach out broader to get their full audience.

brand names
brand names have a big advantage because they are popular and they can connect with their fans. With the technology now, companies can connect with its fan base and the fan base. So not only does the product have to be good but the image of the product has to be good as well. This is solved by brand engagements, which issuing the media to connect with people, what they want to hear, and what they want exactly. Second customer service is easier to accommodate because questions can be answered by email. Lastly is reward programs, offering deals and coupons to attract more customers. The top of the line companies have great brand loyalty and brand engagement.

life without Facebook
I think I would be able to do it. There are many questions that come with getting rid of Facebook. Would I be completely out of the lop with my friends? Would I be able to spend the time that I am on Facebook doing more productive things or would I find something else to waste my time on? Would I be able to resist the urge of not wanting to know what all of my friends are doing? I guess the only way to find out would be to deactivate my Facebook. Personally I think i would be able to do it, but I do not consider myself a Facebook junkie. The main reason why I check my Facebook is because it is an app on my phone. I think if i deleted the app I would rarely check it.
Are social networks eroding our social lives?
According to a recent study by the social discovery site Badoo 40% of Americans socialize more on the internet then in real life. This is a startling figure and it shows that people are becoming more and more dependent on socializing on the computer. I think it is quite pathetic how often you see people constantly looking down on their phones or see people sitting on there computers. Being able to evaluate a person by there expressions is something that is learned by face to face talking and that skill will not be developed if the way you prefer to communicate is just on the computer.

social media in small businesses
Establishing a Facebook page for a small business can be a positive asset for the business, it can help create a bigger client base or create more customers. It can also just be a big waste of time. Big brand names have an advantage because they already have the attention of the public. For small businesses to gain from social media need to make their Facebook page more personal. Things that would help would include what an actual customer has to say or a picture of a family eating at the small family restaurant. Personal attention is the advantage that small businesses have over big brand name companies.
